Palm Springs, CA -- December 11, 2007 -- The award-winning zoom360 virtual object display application has recently been selected from a field of competitors by the Department of Education in one of Canada’s northern-most provinces and is currently being implemented. In a revolutionary approach to education, elementary grade and other students living in remote regions of the province will soon be able go online and examine historic and culturally significant museum artifacts as if they were holding them in their hands. In addition, the displays will deliver both textual and audio information about each artifact. Initially only presented in English, they’ll soon be delivered in up to four other languages to include French and various Native American and Aboriginal dialects.
The zoom360 application has been completely re-engineered in recent months; changing its focus from “service provider” to “solution provider.” zoom360 virtual object displays are now part of a fully licensable software application that easily showcases three dimensional objects on the internet. It delivers a feature-rich and intuitive interface that grants viewers the ability to rotate objects a full 360 degrees. In addition, they can zoom “in” for a magnified view and zoom “up” for an enlarged view. All told, objects can be seen from twenty-five different perspectives, each of which can be viewed at three levels of resolution. What truly sets this application apart from existing ones is that users no longer have to switch between rotational and zooming modes – they maintain complete control over their viewing experience by dragging a rotation bar and then stopping at a point of interest in order to zoom “in” or “up.”
Once installed, the zoom360 application requires no administrative maintenance. Although the displays are presented online by way of the Adobe Flash Player, no additional Flash files need be duplicated or modified. New virtual object displays are created by simply uploading object images to the server and pointing to them from a single hyperlink.
“We always recognized the tremendous impact zoom360 virtual object displays would have in the world of internet retail,” says Len Bradshaw, the developer of zoom360. “What we hadn’t thought of was the cultural and educational value that our displays could provide. I like to consider this most recent application as our own version of ‘no child left behind’”.
In another major announcement, zoom360 has enlisted the creative talents of Jerry Kuyper Partners in the development of its brand strategy and visual identity. Kuyper's past clients have included such names as AT&T, Banco Santander, ChevronTexaco, Cisco, Cunard, Disney, ExxonMobil, Fuji Bank, and General Electric, just to name a few. "I'm thrilled to be able to contribute to the zoom360 branding effort," says Jerry. "The sensory viewing experience it brings to the internet is one that’s long overdue."
