Worlds tallest Super Giant Pyramid to be built in the UK

September 24, 2008 -- A Cambridgeshire based company have unveiled stunning plans to construct a stone pyramid larger in size than the Great Pyramid at Giza, in the UK. Ringspark.com have applied for outline planning permission to build the massive structure in the open spaces of the Lincolnshire countryside, dwarfing the distant spire of Lincoln Cathedral just thirty miles away.

The Pyramid will be the largest structure of its kind in the world. Rising to a height of 502 ft (153m) and with a base length of 800 ft (244m) its footprint will cover an area of approximately 640000 square feet (60000 square meters or about 10 US city blocks). It is estimated that some 2.6 million stone blocks averaging 2.5 tons each will have to be brought to the site by road and canal creating a massive logistical challenge. Detailed building schedules are still to be released, but with time scales anticipated at just 18 years it will quite possibly be completed within this generation.

Technical Director Russell Payne explained how the project came about. “The web site at Ringspark.com basically shows you how to get anything you could possibly want. There’s a process to it, it’s not a secret. We were talking to someone who insisted the process wouldn’t work if you wanted to get yourself something like an oil tanker or a pyramid. But of course, that’s exactly what it does do, and from there it pretty much spiralled. We couldn’t think of anything greater we might be remembered for than building a pyramid. Why not build a monument that will last for tens of thousands of years. It’s just such a great challenge. Funding has been growing steadily, and the planning application is just one more step along the way.”

The company are keen to involve as many people worldwide as possible. To promote this they are giving the first 2.6 million people the chance to have their name inscribed on one of the pyramids stone blocks as a permanent individual memorial.

Payne expressed his confidence in the scheme. “Will it get built? I can’t see any reason why not. This is a monument that will be around long after we have gone. Over two and a half million people alive today will have their names and histories carved into it. Someone is going to have the entire structure put into their name. That’s a massive foundation of support, and provided we can get through the bureaucracy I don’t think it will be allowed to fail. I just hope to see it finished while I’m still alive”.
