Holly Springs, NC April 2, 2008 – A Digital Wake announces today the release of a new instructional video entitled “Wireless Network Security.” The DVD video demonstrates how to protect a wireless network to the owners of the approximately 60% to 80% of Wi-Fi routers that have no or outdated security applied to their network.
The use of an antiquated wireless security method at TJX, the owners of Marshalls and T.J. Max, has been blamed for the largest theft of credit and debit card information. The lack of adequate wireless security is also responsible for unauthorized access to information at Lowe’s, BJ’s Wholesale Club and PG&E. If the methods shown in this video had been implemented, these unauthorized network accesses could have been prevented.
Despite these widely reported breaches of Wi-Fi security, most owners of wireless routers still use no or outdated WEP security as shown by the results of Wi-Fi audits at wigle.net and other ‘wardriving’ internet sites. Using widely available tools found on the internet, WEP, or Wired Equivalency Privacy, security key can be decoded in a matter of minutes.
The instructional video explains and demonstrates the implementation of better security methods that when deployed cannot be so easily breached. The video shows how to configure the router and computer and also explains how to employ the security methods in other devices including Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation3, Microsoft Xbox 360, networked printers, VoIP modems and a media streaming device.
The DVD is available now at A Digital Wake’s web site: www.adigitalwake.com .
