Schedule Announced for Whale Shark Festival in Isla Mujeres, Mexico

** Swimming with Whale Sharks, Traditional Dancing and More to Preserve a Fragile Marine Ecosystem **

ISLA MUJERES, MEXICO (MMD Newswire) June 14, 2012 -- Parades, Caribbean dances and "swim with whale shark" excursions are on the agenda for the Fifth Annual Whale Shark Festival©, a community extravaganza that showcases the achievements, traditions and environmental splendor of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Ecotourism travel agency Ceviche Tours and the Isla Mujeres Department of Tourism have announced the schedule for the Festival, to be held June 21-24, 2012 in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The Festival is an effort to raise awareness for the need to preserve the area's marine ecosystem. A portion of the Festival proceeds will be donated to environmental not-for-profit organizations.

Environmentally focused activities for kids will be offered through Festival sponsor Amigos de Isla Contoy, A.C., who will feature a life-size exhibition of paper-mache whale sharks, manta rays, stingrays, dolphins, green turtles, brown pelicans and other marine wildlife.
