Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown Proves They are Committed to Reducing Their Carbon Footprint by Signing an Agreement with North America's Most Experienced Demand Response Provider.

August 14, 2012 (MMD Newswire) -- Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown has discovered the financial and environmental benefits of enrolling in a demand response program with Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS).

ECS, the longest tenured demand response provider in North America, is proud to announce that Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown has made ECS their official demand response provider. Not only is Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown committed to helping ECS spread the awareness of the benefits of demand response, the energy they are planning to curtail will have a profound effect on the local environment. By enrolling in ECS' PowerPay! Demand Response Program, Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown has committed to reducing their electrical usage during times of grid instability. Through its Green Roots Initiative, ECS will donate trees to one of America's national forests on behalf of Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown for enrolling in one of their programs.

"Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown is part of Volvo Group Truck Operations and is always looking for ways to positively impact the environment," commented Douglas DeVerter, Operations Support Manager, Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown. "Our goal to reduce our corporate carbon footprint begins with an awareness of the energy we use. Participation with ECS increases our awareness and helps position the electrical energy grid to stay online and maintain integrity at lower volumes during peak activity. The energy saving from these activities coordinated by ECS also results in a positive cash flow for us. Not a bad adder for the efforts."

ECS continues to be a leading authority on demand response and the largest, privately held full-service demand response provider in North America. Since its inception in 2001, ECS has experienced considerable growth and now represents over 10,000 customers nationwide. PowerPay! participants are paid for agreeing to voluntarily reduce electric consumption for a short period of time during critical periods of demand. Participants are typically asked to decrease their electricity usage only when the electric grid is strained and in need of help to avoid brownouts or blackouts.

"We are extremely pleased to have Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown as an ECS customer," remarked Jim Korczykowski, President of ECS. "They will now begin to see significant payments in exchange for their commitment to the environment and helping with the electric grid. Clearly, Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown is serious about reducing their carbon footprint and increasing grid stability within their community."

Volvo Remanufacturing Middletown is organized within the company as a member of Volvo Group Truck Operations, Powertrain Production and Remanufacturing Group.
