Unique Service Matches Pet Owners with Host Families as an Alternative to Kennels
San Diego, CA -- October 17, 2006 -- As an alternative to kennels, Paws ‘N Play has set up a very different service to place pets with a network of host families. Any kennel can feed hundreds of pets at a time, but Paws ‘N Play puts pets’ emotional well-being and safety as a top priority. Their customers worry less about their pets while they are away on business or vacation, because Paws ‘N Play offers pet owners a caring, pet-oriented solution to their dilemma.
Boarding kennels who are saddled with dozens, if not hundreds of pets can meet the nutritional and safety needs of a pet but often fall short in caring for the pet emotionally. "Why should your pet go to jail when you go on vacation? We consider the emotional well-being of the pet to be one of our most important concerns," says Pam Mathison, a veteran San Diego business owner and founder of Paws 'N Play Pet Camp.
Dropped off with friends, boarded in kennels or simply left in the back yard with visits from a caretaker, pets can encounter all manner of mishaps and stress while their owner is away. "Pets often get very upset when their owner travels. Pets worry themselves sick, chew their fur, become destructive and soil in ways they normally wouldn't. Owners often can't enjoy their trip, because they're worried about how their pet is doing back home," Mathison said.
Paws 'N Play has an innovative network of local "host families" certified to host pets in their homes. Pets are attended to in loving, almost plush surroundings. "We make sure cats have a wonderful soft place to sleep and a sunny window to watch the world. Dogs receive similar treatment with continuous loving play time," Mathison said.
