Weekly roller derby is back on TV, on demand and on the Internet!
San Francisco, CA -- Oct. 30, 2006 -- After 5 years in development and thousands of emails from today’s youth culture, women’s roller derby is back. Not your grandmother’s roller derby, these ladies of “The New Face of Roller Derby” are sure to give short track speed skaters and the women in the wrestling world a run for their money when "Reality Roller Derby" premiers with 52 weeks of hot roller derby action.
Thanks to the new start-up Internet Sports Channel, Global TV Network, and the American Roller Derby League®, "Reality Roller Derby" is utilizing the Internet with its reality series that will reach millions around the world 24/7 by going to www.BayCityBombers.com .
Bypassing traditional network and cable TV's control over sex and violence, longtime roller derby guru and brand owner Tim Patten partnered with Australia's Global TV Network to create weekly cyber-TV-programs.
"The Internet is unhindered by the creative trappings of network television. It gives millions of people across the globe easy access to experience roller derby and skating entertainment; entirely free," Patten stated.
The 52 TV shows will include rock fueled roller girl bouts and 16mm and 8mm retro-archived footage, in addition to newsreels and historical artifacts such as a rare roller derby radio broadcast from 1938.
"The 1935 documentary on roller derby's Depression Era beginnings comes across as fresh as any new TV series today. There's something for everyone from age 1 to 100," Patten said.
"We have roller derby bloopers, out takes, comedy, speed skating, flat track, banked track derby and rollerjam mayhem from San Francisco, Texas, Australia, France, Japan and around the world. And don’t forget the catfights. Viewers will go inside a training camp and witness contestants in try-outs. We're especially proud of our poignant docudramas that feature some of the greatest derby divas and athletes of all time."
Candid, funny, wild, dramatic and most of all real, "Reality Roller Derby" will air weekly starting Saturday, November 4th, around the globe, and without commercials at www.BayCityBombers.com .
