The Former Fins’n Feathers Resort Reopens November 1, 2006

Under New Ownership and with the new name

Pacific Fins Resort & Marina

Iztapa, Guatemala, September 19, 2006 --  Pacific Fins Resort & Marina, with U.S. headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, has purchased the former Fins’n Feathers Resort in Iztapa, Guatemala. The purchasing group is a partnership of both Americans and Guatemalans, led by Guatemalan, Niels Erichsen.

Recently, the Group was in negotiations with Jim Turner, owner of the sportfishing boat Release, to resell the property, however those negotiations stalled and the sale did not materialize. “Mr. Turner is well respected in the Guatemalan sportfishing community and we are disappointed that we were unable to complete the sale at this time” said Niels Erichsen, CEO of Pacific Fins. Erichsen continued, “On the other hand, the process gave us an even better appreciation for the Resort and we are more excited than ever about reopening and running the resort. Unfortunately, Mr. Turner acted prematurely and issued many press releases indicating that he was the new owner. This has created some confusion in the marketplace. We are now working hard to notify the media and all interested parties that we decided to retain the Resort and that Mr. Turner, in fact, is not the new owner.”

The resort, located about 60 miles southwest of Guatemala City, was opened during the 90’s and up until the time it was closed in the summer of 2005 due to some legal issues, became world famous as a premier sailfishing destination. The Pacific coast of Guatemala is widely accepted as the sailfishing capital of the world. The best charter boats in the area regularly release over 2,000 sailfish per year.

“We are very excited about being able to reopen the former Fins’n Feathers Resort and to bring it back as a first-class fishing resort destination” said Pacific Fins’, U.S. based Marketing Director, Rob Newton. Newton continued, “The area has become immensely popular over the last several years as fisherman from all over the world have learned about the unbelievably high concentrations of sailfish in this area. The closing of the resort last year left the area with a shortage of acceptable accommodations, so we are very pleased to be able to reopen the facility”. The resort is scheduled to reopen November 1st.

In addition to a small expansion, the existing facilities are being upgraded. These upgrades include all new furniture, flat screen satellite TVs, and an improved bar and restaurant area, which will feature gourmet food, premium bar drinks, an extensive wine list and a partnership with the exclusive representative for Habanos, S.A., a purveyor of fine cigars. “Pacific Fins plans to significantly improve the total guest experience by offering a first class facility and the service to go with it” said, Niels Erichsen CEO and Director of Guatemalan Operations. Erichsen continued, “While the Resort is being updated and improved, we have maintained the look, feel and ambiance that guests have come to enjoy over the years. And of course, the sailfishing in the area remains the best in the world.”

The new resort will feature 4 – 2 bedroom, 2 bath villas, each with a kitchenette and living room. Each bedroom has two double beds and the living room has a queen size sleeper sofa. Two new private hotel rooms, each with double beds, have also been added. Also new to the resort will be wireless high speed Internet access.
