The Dot Net Factory Partners with Microsoft To Support Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007

Dublin, Ohio -- June 4, 2007 -- The newest release of The Dot Net Factory’s EmpowerID  Suite now supports Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007 (previously MIIS) with an optional extension called ILM Connect. With ILM Connect, the EmpowerID Suite enhances and extends an organization’s investment in Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007 (ILM) technology with workflow approvals, standards- and role-based access control systems, web-based end-user self-service, web interfaces for delegated administrators, and web services for federation and automation. ILM Connect enables enterprise-wide user provisioning and self-service with rich Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation approvals.

ILM Connect brings the power of the Windows Workflow Foundation and EmpowerID’s roles-based access control system to ILM. This combination enables events in any ILM connected system to initiate workflows and automated provisioning policies for creating user accounts, mailboxes, home folders, adding users to security and distribution lists, granting application access, and more based upon automated role assignments from employee data in these connected systems.

ILM Connect allows complex provisioning and de-provisioning logic to be managed and created outside of ILM. Traditionally, ILM logic is created and maintained as compiled code extensions. ILM Connect allows an organization to move this logic out into graphically managed workflows achieving codeless provisioning with all of the benefits of a roles-based access control model, attractive web interfaces, centralized web-based reporting, and WF workflows – all without the high costs and ongoing maintenance costs of custom ILM code.

EmpowerID eliminates the cost and complexity of forcing delegated admins and self-service users to master each distinct directory and application vendor’s proprietary and user interfaces that are frequently not web-based. These tasks can all be initiated from the EmpowerID Suite’s rich and customizable web forms technology with business-specific workflows and approvals. Web-based interfaces can easily be created using EmpowerID point and click web form technology to enable views for managing not only the user’s identity in Active Directory or other LDAP directories connected to EmpowerID, but also the selective provisioning of that identity enterprise-wide. With the click of a check-box, you can now control provisioning through ILM to connected systems such as Microsoft SQL, Sun Directory Server, Lotus Notes, Oracle, SAP, mainframe, and others. In EmpowerID, each WF workflow can have its own URL and exist as its own mini-application with custom designed web interfaces, approvals, and logic.

EmpowerID also extends ILM’s password management functionality by providing multiple web interfaces enabling users with forgotten password or locked-out accounts to perform self-service resets and unlocks for any of their accounts using the EmpowerID MyPassword Recovery Center. Helpdesk and delegated administrators can also perform multi-system password resets using EmpowerID Identity Manager.
