RENOWNED SURGEON CHRISTIAN CABROL TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT ISHLT ANNUAL MEETING

Paris, FR (MMD Newswire) April 15, 2009 -- Legendary surgeon Dr. Christian Cabrol will deliver the keynote Pioneer Lecture during the opening session of the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions at the Palais des Congres in Paris. He will speak Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 4:25 p.m./16:25 (local time) in the Main Theatre.

The honorable Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris, and French Minister of Health, Mrs. Roselyne Bachelot, a respected ambassador in the medical community, will each provide a welcome address during the same Opening Session.

About Christian Cabrol, M.D.:
Dr. Cabrol performed the first heart transplant in Europe in April 1968, the first heart-lung transplant in Europe in March 1982, and the first implant of a total artificial heart in France in 1986. He began his career as a Surgeon of Parisian Hospitals. His experience includes serving as Chief of Cardiovascular Surgical Department at Hospital de la Pitié. Dr. Cabrol served the last twenty years of his professional career as the scientific director of Paris Assistance Public Surgery School.

Dr. Cabrol served as the president of ISHLT for the 1991-92 term, during the last ISHLT Annual Meeting in Paris. Currently, Dr. Cabrol is an honorary professor of cardiovascular surgery, and he also sits on the Council of the City of Paris.
