SUMMER NIGHTS NEVER SOUNDED SO GOOD
June 4, 2007 -- Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua is proud to announce its 22nd summer season of music making and star gazing. A new 11,200 square foot, blue and grey canvas tent will host over 65 shows this summer ranging from bluegrass to blues, classic rock to original Big Top musicals, and acrobats to comedy legends.
‘The Carnegie Hall of Tent Shows’ on Mt. Ashwabay overlooks a captivating landscape of trees, plush rolling hills and Lake Superior. There are Chautauqua Original Musicals that offer first-person accounts of the lives and dreams of those who settled the Upper Midwest. Original musicals are composed of compelling combinations of song, poetry and stories illuminated by gripping big-screen visuals of original photography and images connecting the audience to the past.
Then there’s the line up of the national and internationally acclaimed performers – legends in their own right. Starting on June 14th we are presenting our most ambitious season ever with headliners like Willie Nelson and Garrison Keillor and we are especially excited to announce the Big Top debut of B.B. King.
“Season 2007 is new tent heaven for as good a line-up as we have ever presented,” said Big Top founder and Tent Show Radio host Warren P. Nelson. “Never in my 22 years have I been more excited for this music-circus parade of great shows to begin. After a winter of touring, I can say our Blue Canvas Orchestra and singers are at the top hat of their performance art. We are unique in all the show business world.”
A full season schedule can be found at www.bigtop.org .
Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua is a year–round nonprofit performing arts organization enhancing cultural opportunities and strengthening connections to the history of the Chequamegon Bay area, state of Wisconsin, and the Upper Midwest through the uniquely American tradition of tent shows. Big Top Chautauqua’s summer season begins mid-June and runs through early September, with evening performances Tuesday through Sunday and some children's matinee shows.
