Newark, New Jersey (MMD Newswire) January 26, 2012 --

February 18, 2012 Guests at the Newark Bears' Mardi Gras celebration are in for a delicious demonstration, as STAR Career Academy chefs are put to the test in a competition of skill, speed and culinary creativity.

Just like on the real show, guests will watch contestants get "chopped" from the competition, as STAR instructors will create dishes from mystery ingredients in a timed, pre-taped display on the big screen. They'll then watch these amazing creations tasted and critiqued by a panel of judges, and an overall winner will be chosen.

The competing Chefs will be Award-winning and American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef Millard Holley, Chef Natalie Reyes of the STAR Baking and Pastry Arts Faculty and Chef (and former "Jeopardy!" champion) Pat Tortorello. Also, culinary students from STAR will be at the event, cooking a themed buffet for guests to enjoy. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 18that the Newark Bears Stadium, located at 450 Broad Street, two blocks from the STAR Career Academy campus.

STAR Career Academy is a career school dedicated to providing performance-based occupational training. STAR has eight locations in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York area, including campuses in Brick, Clifton, Egg Harbor Township, and Newark, New Jersey, in New York and Syosset, New York, and in Norristown and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
