Spotlight on Italy at New York’s Grand Central StationLombardy and Campania: two completely different regions that both have an artistic and natural heritage unequalled elsewhere in the world. The diverse landscape and culture of each collectively represent all that “made in Italy” has to offer.
Between the 3rd and 12th October 2006, the Vanderbilt Room in New York’s Grand Central Station will be opening its doors and inviting the public to come in and get to know some of the most outstanding elements of the “made in Italy” brand including the best of its fashion, culture, gastronomy, craftsmanship, jewellery, high tech and tourism. All of it, in this case, from Lombardy and Campania, just two of Italy’s regions. Lombardy is proud of its history, its theatrical tradition, its wealth of natural spas that provide a haven from a busy world and of course its lakes. Campania on the other hand can boast of having all the ingredients to good living; magnificent scenery and the unmistakeable evidence of several thousand years of history and the many different peoples and cultures that have influenced it.
Two regions that have come together to showcase a common interest – the “made in Italy” brand - something that not only represents business and economic success but also places of unparalleled beauty and or significance, places where it is still possible to savour the joys of nature and its produce, places where one can indulge the senses with the scent and flavour of exquisite wines and the beneficial touch and sounds of thermal waters and where the riches of the sea, the lakes and the land have led to the creation of havens in which relaxation, healthy living, the pursuit of pleasure and good food reign supreme.
It is the provinces of these regions that have got together to organise this event, to promote awareness of the variety of riches that they each have to offer and their pride and love of their respective territories as demonstrated by their shared determination to spoil visitors with a glimpse and a taste of their past as well as the reality of present day life in Art cities or surrounded by unspoilt nature, the continuing tradition of good food, and of course a future in which international markets will play an increasingly important role.
On 5th October, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. journalists are invited to a cocktail party to a presentation of this event at: The Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station 42nd Street / Park Avenue New York.
