Since 1993, Sedgman has relied on a proprietary application that was developed in-house and based on Microsoft's Visual Basic (VB). In 2008, Sedgman began searching for a replacement system that could be scaled to keep pace with the 650-person company's plans for growth. According to Development Manager Tom Parnell, "We're on an acquisition path that we expect to take us to several thousand people in the next five years. So we needed a commercially viable and supported system that could be rolled out across our global enterprise."
Sedgman eventually settled on the Tenrox Timesheet, Cost & Revenue Accounting, and Analytics modules. Parnell points out that there were several different reasons for choosing Tenrox over the competition. They worked with very detailed specifications from our current system, and came very close (to meeting our requirements) with the first mock-up," Parnell explains. In one instance, the Tenrox team was able to recreate Sedgman's existing timesheet entry screen through Tenrox's patent pending Timesheet Designer feature.
Tenrox's experience and industry standing also played a part in Sedgman's decision. Parnell says, "Timesheets are the bread and butter of our business, so we had to have a major player who's been in the business for a while.
