"SEAL Team 6: bin Laden and Beyond" by J.L. Narmi follows the life, emotions and actions of a Navy SEAL leader

OMAHA, Neb. (MMD Newswire) October 3, 2011 - - Fiction and current events intertwine in J.L. Narmi's novel "SEAL Team 6: bin Laden and Beyond" (ISBN 146361098X). The book centers on Gregory "Geno" Genelli, the leader of SEAL Team 6. SEAL Team 6 was a secretive military and counter-terrorism unit within the Navy SEAL Team organization until they recently became known as the unit responsible for taking down bin Laden. Narmi had written the body of the novel prior to SEAL Team 6's media exposure. He notes that SEAL Team 6 is a unit so secretive that the White House and Department of Defense do not recognize their existence.

"SEAL Team 6" begins with the killing of Osama bin Laden. Quickly after bin Laden's killing, Geno and Team 6 are assigned to a mission that involves securing the release of Secretary of State Kathryn Kurtz from a splinter terror group in Saudi Arabia. Geno receives the Navy Cross for his heroism and creates complications when he publicly criticizes the president's passive attitude toward terrorists. Secretary of State Kurtz saves Geno's military career, which allows him to remain as SEAL Team 6's leader. Geno teams up with Kurtz for his next mission: the two will attempt to prevent a war between Israel and Iran.

"This is an exciting read for an audience beyond those that have an affinity for military action books," says Narmi. "The novel has an appeal for those who also have an interest in world politics and strategies because the body and flow of the book extend well beyond the military actions involved. It is a story as much about strategic political decisions as it is about military actions."

Narmi believes that his novel will hit home with readers because of events currently unfolding in the Middle East. "What was once thought unthinkable is now possible, and no action or consequence is as remote as it may have seemed just a few short months ago," says Narmi. "Our respect for the brave men and women that fight each and every day to keep our country safe grows stronger when reading of the missions and their toll on people like Geno and their families."
