BOULDER, Colo. (MMD Newswire) January 27, 2012 -- Scrib, an innovative new coworking site in the heart of Boulder, held a launch celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony Jan. 26 joined by officials from the Boulder Chamber and Colorado Innovation Network.
Scrib co-founders hosted the celebration at the new company's shared workspace at 2060 Broadway. They were joined by Susan Kolinski, head of business development for the Boulder Chamber, and Vic Ahmed, board member of Colorado Innovation Network, an initiative of Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper to promote entrepreneurship and job creation in the state.
Short for "scribble," Scrib is a shared work environment where independent and creative individuals can collaborate on ideas and advance their success. Scrib increases network density and strengthens connections between startup, freelancers, and "solopreneurs." It also provides members with access to funding, mentors, corporate sponsorships, and events and programming. Memberships at Scrib are going fast, with the space officially opening Feb. 1.
'Generate More Ideas.'
"Scrib is all about having a physical place where people can come together, expose their ideas and get input from other people, and together create more ideas and generate more energy than we can do apart," said Krout, Scrib co-founder.
Scrib is also designed to give its members "access to things that entrepreneurs normally don't have easy access to: funding, mentorship, education," added Jeff Donaldson, also a Scrib co-founder. "We really want to do something that is successful, but also makes an impact on small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs in Boulder and Colorado."
"Colorado has a huge appetite for entrepreneurship," Ahmed said. "There is a high level of creativity and education here, and a lot of people who understand entrepreneurship."
'Accelerate Productivity.'
The Boulder Chamber's Kolinski, who took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new company, said the chamber supports Scrib's mission of aiding startups and accelerating their productivity.
"Sharing ideas, helping organizations get funding, and doing it from a passion to contribute will go a long way in this town," she said. "It bodes very well for Scrib that they want to support the shared productivity economy."
And, she said, Scrib fits in well with the Boulder job-generating ecosystem, Kolinski added. "Boulder is a hotbed of innovation," she said. "There are a lot of big brains in this town."
