Reggae in New York City - A New Direction
February 14, 2007 (New York) -- Manhattan Center Studios, Inc. and TSO Productions LLC are pleased to announce a coventure between the two to stage events at the Manhattan Center Studios Grand Ballroom. Manhattan Center Studios Inc. which houses state of the art recording studios, television studios and video post production facilities is also home to two of Manhattan’s most unique event spaces, The Hammerstein and The Grand Ballrooms. The ballrooms offer elegant settings and unparalleled acoustics for events of all kinds. TSO Productions LLC is a marketing, promotion and event management enterprise with expertise and extensive experience in the production and promotion of cultural events. In its first project, the coventure will periodically transform the Grand Ballroom into a chic Caribbean paradise to stage Reggae Cabaret, a showcase presenting the best of reggae. Reggae Cabaret will expand the options for after work networking and leisure by offering a monthly production of reggae entertainment in an elegant setting. From the décor to the vibes, Reggae Cabaret will facilitate an authentic Caribbean experience. “Manhattan Center Studios is proud and excited about its participation in this venture and look forward to playing a leadership role in taking reggae in a new direction by affording it the staging and ambiance of our Grand Ballroom,” says Russell Arnold, Chief Executive Officer of Manhattan Center Studios, Inc. Reggae Cabaret will feature the finest veteran roots reggae artists while offering an exclusive chance to discover the hottest new talent in the genre in an intimate setting with the opportunity to meet the artists. “There has long been a void in the marketplace for quality reggae productions and I am pleased to have the opportunity to produce and present a quality reggae experience on a regular basis,” says Sharon Gordon, President of TSO Productions LLC.
Reggae Cabaret opens its doors for the first time on Thursday, March 29 at 6:30pm. The show, which begins at 8:00pm, spotlights Toots and the Maytals, a group revered as one of the architects of reggae. To complement the music, the experience will also include authentic Jamaican cuisine, catered by a local restaurant noted for its exceptional food and service.
