San Diego, CA - - August 29, 2006 - - Audiences were wowed Wednesday by the stunning visuals of the Red Hot Chili Peppers show where they were seemingly surrounded within an exciting visual experience.
The design team of 40watt labs has successfully tossed out the notion of traditional stage design. Doing away with common tools and starting afresh, combining their talents to create what many have said to be “the most revolutionary show of the year”.
Designers, Grier Govorko and Scott Holthaus blend their unique vision to make a perfect marriage of art and technology. They deliver their artistic vision in a brave new style. Their clever use of video technology is lofted by their execution of perfect composition. The symmetry of modern eclectic and powerful scenes fetches numerous gasps to outright cheers from the audience. Audiences and critics agree that the Chili Pepper spectacular is a perfect blend of artistic expression meeting technology. Buzz is already circulating that this show will sweep the Industry awards.

“Man, does the Chili Peppers' new show have the goods. It far surpasses my expectations, in fact, it's a different sight for a different scope, but it's clearly the grandest dazzler since U2's football-field-wide PopMart backdrop was introduced in 1997. Only, there's a crucial difference: PopMart overwhelmed U2. It swallowed the band whole; rather than becoming intertwined with the playing (as at the best Pink Floyd shows), the spectacle overshadowed the music altogether. With the Chili Peppers, it's just the opposite - it enhances their energy, their vitality; it adds vibrancy. When Kiedis leaps about, hopping his way from flailing Frusciante to goofy-footin' Flea, he doesn't get lost amid the enormity of it all. Depending on the song and the graphics, he and the power trio surrounding him can be either the center of this stellar display - its every torrent seeming to emanate from their positions on stage - or serve as accents to more eye-grabbing visuals adorning the arena.”

Scott Holthaus and Grier Govorko are thrilled with the response and are happily reviewing options for future projects. The design duo is committed to leaving a rather large mark in the world of big concert design.
The Chili Peppers play the Los Angeles Forum August 31st and Sept 1st.
