QUILTFEST OF JAKSONVILLE RETURNS SEPTEMBER 20-22 WITH EVEN BIGGER SHOW  AT PRIME OSBORN CONVENTION CENTER; MORE EVENTS

JACKSONVILLE, FL (August 2007) — One of the largest quilt shows in the Southeast returns to Jacksonville in September with more space than ever and even more events.

QuiltFest of Jacksonville will be September 20-22, 2007 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

The show features a huge quilt gallery with more than 400 quilts, seminars, quilt appraisals, vendors and a kid’s area. In addition, featured speakers include renowned artists Linda Jenkins and Melody Johnson.

The event also includes a preview party and fashion show.

“Our purpose is to preserve the heritage of quilting, to be a source of information and inspiration, to perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilting and related arts, and to coordinate an annual exhibition of this art form,” said Carolyn Allen, one of the event organizers.

“Our theme this is year is ‘It’s Not Your Grandmother’s Flower Garden’, and it’s so true. Quilting is art enjoyed by all ages, and by both men and women,” she added.

For quilters, QuiltFest is an open judged show. Prize money will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of 12 categories, Best of Show, Viewers Choice, Artistic Merit, Best Hand Quilting and Best Machine Quilting.  Ribbons will be awarded for Judge's Recognition, Honorable Mention, and all Young Quiltmakers.

Show hours are Thursday and Friday from 9 am to  6  pm; and  Saturday from 9 am  to 5 pm. One-day tickets are $8; multi-day pass is $15; and on Thursday only Seniors (age 60 and up) will receive $1 off regular admission.
