Psychedelic Folk Artist TAKES HER BATH ON TELEVISION
NEW YORK - February 2007: HGTV steps into the shower with Apryl Miller as it shows off her Master Bathroom on an episode of “I Want That! Baths”, coming up on February 10th. Miller’s aesthetic is extremely colorful and energetic, but at the same time calming, with a gold fresco treatment on the walls and jewel-like detail on the vanity. The spacious tub is covered in mosaic work that Miller did herself, designing many of the tiles and helping install them.
Based in New York City , Miller’s home is her best-known work, having been featured in the media and Open House New York , the yearly festival of architecture and design. Containing over 150 shades of paint and a profusion of vintage fabrics, she created her personal space by using color and texture to explore the highs and lows of everyday life and the joy of her children. Grounded in the principals of emotional resonance and spontaneous design, the space represents Miller’s philosophy of life with the home as a heart-thumping, breathing entity.
Miller is a recovering perfectionist who now welcomes the rule of serendipity. Currently trying to live without learning anything more and forgetting all she’s learned, Miller attended FIT but is largely self-taught. She continues to expand the media in which she works, including collage, furniture as art and interactive installation.
