October 4, 2007 (Chicago) -- October 15-20 has been designated National Teen Driver Safety Week to inspire dialogue within communities and families about the causes of teen accidents. Car crashes kill more teens in the U.S. every year than guns, drugs, alcohol and suicide combined.
Timothy C. Smith, certified Sports Car Club of America racer, and the author of Crashproof Your Kids: Make Your Teen a Safer, Smarter Driver (Simon & Schuster), is available to discuss what parents can do now to help their kids handle distractions, drinking, road rage, speeding and other risks. Mr. Smith is also a certified driving instructor, and has an advanced driving school in Joliet, Illinois. He is the father of three teenagers and has extensive national TV and radio experience. You can contact Mr. Smith through Lynda O’Connor (
