March 18, 2010 (MMD Newswire) -- The Infoshop by Global Information would like to present a new market research report, "PROTECTIVE PACKAGING (US industry forecasts for 2014 & 2019)" by The Freedonia Group.

The US demand for protective packing is anticipated to reach $5.2 billion in 2014, which will be a rebound from the 2004-2009 period as the US economy recovers from the recession that started back in December of 2007. Advances in protective packaging will be stimulated by a proliferation in Internet shopping and an upswing in manufacturing activity.

An above-average demand growth is expected from foamed plastic protective packaging products through 2014. Opportunities will be supported by foamed plastic's lightness in weight and excellent cushioning capabilities, in addition to its versatility in conforming to basically any shape for enhanced protection. Other segments anticipated to experience robust growth include air pillows, bubble packaging, molded pulp, insulated shipping containers, and protective mailers. Molded pulp, especially, will experience some of the fastest gains in protective packaging due to increasing interest in environmentally friendly packaging along.

The two key factors expected to drive growth will be performance and environmental advantages. Other considerations of growth include a rebound in the economy and a continued solid outlook for electronic shopping, which will drive the need for products offering enhanced resistance to abrasion, temperature changes, impact, and other harsh events during supply chain movement.
