The new test tool paves the way for a robust interoperable ecosystem of Continua Certified™ connected personal health solutions based on Continua's next generation of design guidelines. The Continua v1.5 Design Guidelines will add new device specializations supporting PAN Interface, email transmission method for HRN Interface, and specifying WAN Interface to complete the whole end-to-end Continua Architecture.
Continua Health Alliance is an open industry group of more than 200 leading technology and healthcare companies dedicated to establishing a system of interoperable personal health solutions. Continua selected AT4 wireless at the end of 2008 to provide certification testing services for health and fitness devices based on Continua requirements. In December 2009, Continua approved and launched AT4 wireless' fully Automated Test Tool as a fundamental part of Continua certification program for solutions based on Continua's v1.0 Design Guidelines.
The Continua Test Tools will allow device manufacturers to assess their conformance to the Continua Design Guidelines and some of the standards and specifications they reference, reducing development efforts. Furthermore, it will reduce each unique device's time to market and is expected to contribute to a faster pace of Continua Certified devices present in the global consumer market.
"AT4 wireless was selected by Continua Health Alliance based on acquired knowledge during the successful v1.0 Test Tool development and its industry leading experience in developing Certification Test Tools and Test Systems for wireless and telecommunication technologies as 2G, 3G, HSPA, Bluetooth®, WiMAX™, RFID, NFC or more recently LTE™.", stated Andres Moreno, Sales and Marketing Director at AT4 wireless. "During the last years AT4 wireless has been enjoying rapid international growth, one of our focus areas has been eHealth, on which the continuous and fruitful cooperation with Continua Health Alliance is a great achievement."
"The AT4 wireless automated test tool is a crucial component for Continua's rigorous certification process, paving the way for a robust interoperable ecosystem of Continua Certified™ connected personal health solutions based on Continua's next generation of design guidelines," said Rick Cnossen, President of Continua Health Alliance. "Consumers have the assurance that products and services bearing the Continua logo have undergone rigorous interoperability testing by an independent test lab. In addition to empowering consumers to take a more active role in their own health and fitness, these connected health solutions are enabling new models of healthcare delivery that could help improve outcomes and enhance access while reducing the skyrocketing costs associating with an aging population, chronic diseases and unhealthy lifestyles."
