(MMD Newswire) December 31, 2009 -- Employees from Education Corporation of America Human Resources department recently volunteered at The Lovelady Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Kimberly Cummings, Tammy Lockwood, Kendra Fomby, Montiqua Mathers-Petway, Joy Service, and Cathryn Potter served and prepared food for women and children at the center during the holidays. Kendra Fomby was asked to say grace before the meal. ECA's HR department also donated 5,000 envelopes to assist with the center's future fundraising initiatives.

The Lovelady Center currently houses 330 women and over 100 children and strives to give women their lives back, whether they were lost in homelessness, abuse, crime or alcohol and drug abuse. Much like schools owned and operated by ECA--such as Virginia College--the center stresses that education is the key to a successful future. And that includes not just academically but emotionally and spiritually. The Lovelady Center's mission is helping women recover from their poor choices and become contributing members of the community.
