Presidential Candidate to Attend Free Speech Coalition Fundraising Event

Canoga Park, CA -- The Free Speech Coalition announced today that Democratic Presidential candidate Mike Gravel will attend their Red, White and Blue Bash fundraiser at Universal Studio’s Globe Theatre this Saturday.

Senator Gravel served as a US Senator representing Alaska from 1969 to 1981.  In 1971, Senator Gravel embarked on a one-man filibuster against legislation renewing the military draft. Using various parliamentary maneuvers, Gravel was able to block the bill for five months before President Richard Nixon and Senate Republicans agreed to allow the draft to expire.  Senator Gravel has been a life long defender of free speech and has been a staunch advocate of gay rights including gay marriage.

“The tide is turning and courageous free thinkers like Senator Gravel are standing up and telling the truth about oppressive government intrusion into people’s personal lives that not only tears away personal freedoms, but also wastes valuable tax dollars in unwanted and misguided moral policing.” said Diane Duke FSC Executive Director

Senator Gravel will address the crowd briefly with additional time for question and answer.

The Free Speech Coalition was founded in 1991 as a result of numerous government attacks against producers and retailers of adult products. But its roots are embedded deep within the birth and development of adult entertainment in the United States. The Free Speech Coalition’s mission is to lead, protect and support the growth and well-being of the adult entertainment community.
