Kid's International Home is expanding its preschool program known as Pre K International. As an IPC member, Pre K International offers teacher training and professional development to its instructors. Pre K International will also offer after school programs with homework tutoring and exposure to different languages in a non-intimidating way through play, daily activities and songs. In the summer, a sports program will be implemented where children will be taught age appropriate exercises once a week. The first series will begin with an instructor on Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian art form combining elements of martial arts, music, and dance with a part of the class being taught in Portuguese. Recognizing the importance of exercise for young children, Pre K has also built a playground area that promotes more opportunities for gross motor development.
Pre K International will begin teaching IPC's curriculum in the fall. IPC's curriculum includes 20 thematic units developed for 3-6 year olds and 36 thematic units developed for infants and toddlers with 180 daily lesson plans. Furthermore, the IPC curriculum is researched and peer reviewed, set out to create the most engaging and educational curriculum available to preschools.
Recently, Pre K International hosted their first Family Day on May 12, encouraging families to learn about community resources as well as how to be eco-friendly. Children enjoyed having their faces painted by Princess Belle and learning Capoeira. For further learning, Capoeira Summer Camp will begin on Saturdays, July 14th, 2012. For the group consisting of 3 and 4 year olds, camp will commence from 2- 3 pm and elementary students from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. The fall preschool program will commence September 3, 2012, while enrollment will begin July 16, 2012. For more information on Pre K International, visit www.prekinternational.com.
