FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (MMD Newswire) June 24, 2009 -- What About Me? A Novel Approach to Personal Growth by Jacqueline Dierks aims to make the self-help genre entertaining by showing how a young woman uses insights from her therapy sessions to deal with her dysfunctional family and her dissatisfactions in life.
"There are simple tools that can change lives," says psychotherapist and author Dierks in What About Me?. Using the novel format, Dierks tracks the changing life of Samantha Daley, a woman who goes into therapy to deal with her problematic family, her feelings about turning 30 and her life in general. Every other chapter is a therapy session, followed by a chapter that shows how Samantha uses the lessons of therapy to begin to change her life for the better.
Meant to be a quick read with easily understandable advice, What About Me? includes worksheets allowing readers to address their own life issues, consider solutions, and "go to therapy" along with Samantha. Dierks believes readers will use Samantha as a role model to understand themselves and their circumstances more fully.
