Captain Hook Charters to Operate Exclusively At Pacific Fins

Iztapa, Guatemala, December 12, 2006 --  Pacific Fins Resort & Marina, formerly Fins’n Feathers Inn, announced today that Captain Ron Hamlin has been named Director of Charter Fishing Operations at the world famous resort.

As an internationally recognized billfish captain, Ron Hamlin brings over 30 years of charter fishing, sponsorship marketing and yacht management experience to Pacific Fins.

“Captain Ron is exactly the right person to direct our charter fishing operations” said Pacific Fins’, U.S. based Marketing Director, Rob Newton. Newton continued, “Over the years Guatemala has become synonymous with great sailfishing and Ron Hamlin has been a key player in this area, not only in putting up huge catch numbers, but he has also been a leader in conservation and the use of circle hooks”.

Captain Hamlin, who runs the legendary charter boat, Captain Hook, in Guatemala, recently set the new single season record for most billfish releases, releasing 2,809 in 180 fishing days over the one year period from November 1, 2005 to October 31, 2006. He also holds the record for the most releases in one day at 124, set in March 2006 in Guatemala. Most recently, Ron was awarded Overall Captain of the Year by the IGFA and will be honored at the upcoming Miami Boat Show.

Hamlin continued, “When Fins’n Feathers closed in 2005, it left a void in the area of quality accommodations for our fishing clients. All of the Captains, including myself, had to arrange local housing for our guests using available private villas and quite frankly, in many cases, it left a lot to be desired. The new owners have done a fantastic job of renovating and improving the Fins’n Feathers property and I am very excited about being associated with such a high quality resort”.
