Local Residents Plan ''Pawsitive Day of Caring'' for the Animals at the SPCA in Cattaraugus County

Project Registered with National Make a Difference Day with Goal of Winning $10,000 Grant for Shelter

OLEAN, NY (MMD Newswire) October 4, 2012 -- The Pawsitive Day of Caring will be held October 27th at the Cattaraugus County SPCA and the group is seeking volunteers now to pitch in and make a "pawsitive" difference!! The furry friends will be "fur-ever" grateful!

This project has been registered with Make A Difference Day 2012 and if we do an amazing job, we could win a $10,000 grant for the animals at the SPCA in Cattaraugus County.

When: Sunday October 27, 9am to 4pm - Make a Difference Day - the largest day of volunteering in the country!

Where: SPCA in Cattaraugus County, 2944 New York 16, Olean, NY 14760

What's Needed:

• Contractor volunteers for roof repair

• Manpower volunteers to install new chain link fence for kennels

• Volunteers to paint cages

• Volunteers to serve on the Board of Directors (applications will be available)

• Volunteer to help out with the day to day operations at the SPCA

• Supplies for the animals

About the SPCA in Cattaraugus County:

The SPCA in Cattaraugus County is a non-profit, no-kill, charity animal shelter that was founded in 1905. They are dedicated to saving the lives of animals and providing adoption services for homeless and neglected animals. Donations and fundraisers account for approximately 70% or more of their yearly income. Over the past 15 years, they have helped to find loving homes for over 25,000 animals. They are the largest animal shelter in New York's southern tier. They have 68 dog kennels (indoor/outdoor) and 4 rooms dedicated to housing cats, including 2 rooms that allow the cats to romp & play without being confined to a cage. Outside, they have 4 large (~400 square feet each) pens that are used as exercise areas for the dogs. They also have a barn to house farm animals removed from cruelty cases.
