Chicago, IL (MMD Newswire) February 24, 2010 - General Larry Platt sang the truth on a recent episode of American Idol Season 9. "Pants on the Ground" is sweeping the globe as the newest smash hit, starting a movement to help people of all ages and backgrounds to earn respect and success, and stop "looking like a fool," by way of David Hearld's book: Who is Wearing the Pants?
General Platt embraced civil rights movements as a teenager, working with various committees and conferences and organizing sit-ins in the South. A photo on the Civil Rights Veterans Website shows Platt in 1963 at the age of 16, engaged in song. He and many others had arrived by bus to a church in Savannah, Georgia, to plan a march led by Reverend Hosea Williams and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to desegregate the city. The march was canceled and they were singing to raise their spirits before returning home.
Who is Wearing the Pants? is a self-development book that has helped change many lives throughout the country, illustrating the same principles that Platt used to earn respect. By "keeping his pants off the ground", Platt became a doer, not just a dreamer, earning the nickname "General" from the Revered Hosea Williams due to his heroic efforts on behalf of the civil rights movement. In fact, the Georgia General Assembly proclaimed Sept. 4, 2001, Larry Platt Day in Atlanta, because of "his great energy and commitment to equality and the protection of the innocent and for his outstanding service to the Atlanta community and the citizens of Georgia."
To this day, Platt dedicates himself to community activism in Atlanta and is well respected by his peers for standing up for people in need. The book, Who is Wearing the Pants? shows how easy it is to help others earn this same respect, featuring 15 short and easy-to-read mini-lessons that inspire readers to take control of their lives, and live happier, longer and richer by keeping their pants off the ground.
