It is Baa who instigates the deal with four unconventional Russians to exploit a bizarre technology that nets them a fortune trading palladium, a lesser known precious metal element within the platinum group. Most of the world's palladium is mined inside Russia where it is deemed so vital that stocks are an actual state secret.
Insights and revelations within the group are triggered by events as the story traverses the Amazon, London, Russia's Kaliningrad enclave, Paris, the Mediterranean, Uruguay, L.A. and Chile's Atacama Desert.
"You might say it's a myth for these times - private jets and good food mixed with sex, tragedy and human susceptibility," says Sasenic. "Many of the background occurrences in the book are based on fact but the characters are all fictional."
Sasenic's story seeks to show that in both the world of brute matter and the complicated lives of human beings, opposites are eternal and fundamental to existence. The book intends to offer readers novel takes on the parallels between physics, psychology and business.
