03/14/2007 -- This is the artist's first introduction to the upcoming STRING THEORY SERIES to the public. Exhibition dates are from March 16th through April 6th, 2007 with the opening set for March 22, 2007 6-8 PM. For the first time since Edward Longo created dozens of paintings more than ten years ago he is enthusiastic about announcing his recent acrylic painting titled, VIBRATIONAL STRINGS. Although Edward Longo's paintings have been exhibited in banks, restaurants and numerous art galleries throughout New York, Longo felt it was time to invite the public to one of his exhibitions. With the introduction of VIBRATIONAL STRINGS he is already working on adding more to this special group of paintings called STRING THEORY SERIES.

The idea came to the artist after learning the viewpoints of leading physicists and their insights on string theory. Through Nova's "The Elegant Universe" much was gleaned from Einstein's quantum theory, vibrational gravity, protons, electromagnetism and the weak and strong nuclear forces. Through this series of paintings Longo plans to innovatively capture the expression of those mysterious string forces in a certain spiritual, grandiose, or psychic means - thereby making it seem as if "Everything" could indeed become visible.

 

 

As for VIBRATIONAL STRINGS represented by Agora Gallery, Longo plans to have his paintings display intense colors and 3-dimentional, geometric shapes of Abstract Expressionism in association with the microscopic theory of gravity known as the "Theory of Everything." He executes this special technique by using the palette knife, smooth strokes of the brush, and by squeezing paint directly from tube onto canvas.

Edward Longo describes his STRING THEORY SERIES as, "The art of transferring one's feelings from the palette onto the canvas, expressing both knowledge and emotion." Although originally from Hartford, CT, where Longo studied architectural drafting and painting, he has spent the past twenty years exhibiting in prominent Manhattan galleries, hotels, and public spaces. One thing is for certain, this artist cannot be pigeonholed - that is to say, each of his artworks, whether paintings, drawings, or sculptures are in a class of their own.
