This site is the only one of its kind to allow users to host any type of event or celebration (ranging from weddings to birthdays, and pool parties to bar mitzvahs) where all or part of the total gift (50% or more) is donated to a charity.
In lieu of a wrapped and packaged present, guests are asked to give a monetary gift online, thereby eliminating the waste associated with wrapping paper, packaging, conventional greeting cards, and driving to the store in search of a gift. By using this site, the host of the party can select a charity they wish to support, send invitations and receive RSVP's electronically, track their entire party, send thank you notes and receive well wishes from their guests.
The funds are pooled, and subsequently divided between the host of the party, who can then purchase one special, truly memorable gift instead of receiving many (possibly unnecessary) gifts and the selected charity (which will issue a tax receipt to the host). One Green Balloon charges a 15% administration fee for the use of its service. This fee is charged to the host of the event, and is based on the total funds collected prior to division and distribution.
