MASS MEDIA DISTRIBUTION NEWSWIRE

ON BROADWAY TOPS THE BOX AT LOCAL THEATERS - BUZZ BUILDS
March 18, 2008

This past weekend, the highest grossing movie at both the Somerville Theatre (just under $3k) and the Dedham Theatre ($4K) was a little, heartwarming indie film that most people have never heard of because it has no studio or distributor behind it.

What this movie does have is a string of strong reviews and film fest honors, as well as a growing base of Bostonians who believe that this is the best representation of Boston ever to reach the big screen!

ON BROADWAY - a movie about dreams, about self-expression, about loss, about laughter - opened on March 14 in the Boston area.  The movie stars Boston-natives Joey McIntyre, Eliza Dushku, Mike O'Malley, Robert Wahlberg, and Amy Poehler, as well as honorary Bostonian Will Arnett in a story about a neighborhood that's about as far as it gets from the Great White Way.  View the trailer and find out more about the movie at www.onbroadwaythemovie.com .  And from there, you can click on "Showtimes" to see where it's playing (Dedham,Somerville, South Weymouth, West Newton & Sharon; opens 3/28 in Newport,RI).

Also, here's a link to NPR's coverage of the film, a story called "Debunking Irish American Stereotypes," which aired on Morning Edition with Bob Oakes last week. http://www.wbur.org/news/2008/75706_20080313.asp
