Newly Published Article Explains Where and How Negative Emotional Memories Are Stored In the Brain and How these Can Best Be Treated
 
Greenville, South Carolina -- May 26, 2007 -- Local private practicing clinical psychologist has published an article in the June edition of the Journal of Psychotherapy Integration entitled, “Negative emotional memories in clinical treatment: Theoretical considerations.”

The clinical biopsychological approach is based on the brain model published in the recent issue of The Journal of Mind and Behavior. The cortical model was developed over 20 years ago, but enough support from brain imaging studies has only now made the theory publishable in a peer-reviewed journal. In the current article, clinical psychologist, Robert A. Moss, Ph.D., ABPP, describes how the model relates to the treatment of negative emotional memories. He will also present a workshop in Lisbon July 5th that will be the first time this has been presented to an international audience of psychologists. Dr. Moss has been working with a clinical biopsychological approach in the treatment of psychological problems, including depression and anxiety, in his private practice for years, though these are the first articles to appear in peer reviewed journals. The approach differs from the three main theoretical approaches (i.e., psychodynamic, humanistic/experiential, and cognitive-behavioral) to individual psychotherapy, in that it is the only one based on a brain model. Dr. Moss is board certified in both clinical psychology and neuropsychology. Based on this brain model, Dr. Moss has written a professional manual on conducting treatment, a self-help book, and two Christian books.
