New Tag Covers Personalize I-Pass Transponders Red Bank, NJ - - August 22, 2006 - - - The I-Pass is a time saving convenience that also cuts back on pollution and reduces traffic congestion. There is one major drawback, it is ugly. A new device keeps the I-Pass from being an eyesore. The tag cover is a clear laminate that pulls off and sticks to the inside of the windshield. The back has a Velcro-type adhesive that the transponder mounts to. The tag covers come in a variety of different designs. Popular designs include American Flag, military logos, Marines, college logos, baseball, basketball and hockey logos, NASCAR, clubs, trade associations, unions, even pop icons such as the happy face. Custom tag covers for individuals, schools, youth teams, fund-raisers and companies. Prices range from $9.99 to $19.99. Each tag cover is fade resistant and will stand up to ultra-violet rays.
The Highway Image pass cover is NOT a sticker. It is a piece of technology made of a material that does not interfere with the reading of the transponder. It has been tested by pass manufacturers and reviewed by the Federal Highway Safety Administration. Highway Images has product liability insurance, and all logos are licensed.
Several DOT’s have said that the tag cover could save them “millions of dollars” in processing fines if people were given a reason to keep their tag in the windshield. Drivers tend to hold the tag in the windshield as they pass through the toll since they don’t like the way it looks on their car. As a result, the tag is often misread and triggers a fine. Also, fumbling around with the transponder can distract the driver and cause an accident.
