New National Contest Offers Everyone The Chance To Be A Star

Dateline: Tucson, Arizona, Jan. 02, 2007
Contestants nationwide will be able to showcase their skills on The CW and the Net, competing for a shot at a $10,000 prize, offered by Platinum Image Music Videos in their search for new stars.

Attention all you undiscovered soulful singers, guitar gods, rapping angels and old-school breakers: PDM International has just thrown down the gauntlet. Called you out. Challenged you to step up and show the world what you’re made of.

Platinum Image Music Videos (P. I. M. V.), one of the hottest multi-genre TV shows, broadcast on The CW as well as on the Internet, will be holding a national contest to fi nd 10 contestants of extraordinary talent and drive to compete for a $10,000 prize, and a slot on the P.I.M.V. tour. Details about the start and end dates of the contest will be available on the P.I.M.V. website.

Unlike most talent searches, applicants for the P.I.M.V. competition don’t need to limit their skill sets to one area. The contest is open to models, actors, on-camera reporters, clarinet players ... and folks who can do all of the above, blindfolded. Whether a contestant was voted “Most Popular” by his/her high school class, or if he or she sat alone at the lunch table each day doesn’t matter. People who would be shut out of other competitions because they don’t fi t a demographic — too young, too old, too urban, too edgy — are all welcome in the Platinum Image Music Videos contest.

Best of all, each of the 10 fi nalists will receive airtime on P.I.M.V.’s show, giving them an invaluable opportunity to showcase their talents for industry professionals, as well as the people who really matter — the fans.

This is more than just a race to grab a $10,000 brass ring. There are plenty of contests that offer cash prizes for doing nothing more than fi lling out an entry form; P.I.M.V. is giving contestants a chance to prove that they deserve to be the next Jay-Z, Gisele Bundchen or Will Ferrell. Anyone who has ever tried to get a foot in the door of Hollywood, or the modeling world, or the music business, knows it can take years of frustration to get this kind of break — a forum where one’s talent can be developed and spotlighted for the world to see.

Not surprisingly, the contest is the brainchild of a man who knows all about working hard to catch a break. Profi t Don Mega has toiled for a decade on the frontlines of the entertainment business, building an artist development company from the ground up, fi nding and nurturing talent and getting them the exposure they’ve needed to move their careers forward.

Now he hopes to do the same for a new group of entertainers, people who demonstrate the qualities inherent in platinum itself: the brilliance, the rarity, the ability to hold up under heat and pressure. The 10 fi nalists in the P.I.M.V. contest will not only possess these preciousmetal qualities, they will have a passion that will be obvious to anyone around them. And just as platinum can transform the wearer, the winner of the contest will be the sort of person hose love of entertaining actually transforms an audience, empowering them to reach and achieve in their own lives.

Sponsors for the contest include the YMCA, Chicago Store, Ragz Hip Hop Clothing, Sound FX and K-Momo.

Applicants must register to be eligible for the talent search, and they can do so by calling 877-PDM-PIMV.
