Beverly, Mass - - March 13, 2008 - - Gullwing Paddles has designed a revolutionary new paddle to help kayakers of all ages fully enjoy kayaking while reducing the major stress caused by the original straight paddle.   The Gullwing Paddle provides a natural motion that reduces the typical stress on the joints and arms, with an added bonus of greater rowing ease and control.

The Gullwing Paddle is nothing like the conventional straight paddle; the ergonomically curved shape allows for a more comfortable holding position along with an easier, smoother stroke.  It is covered with an improved grip that allows a comfortable grip from any portion of the paddle, while still allowing for normal operation.  With this new grip, rowers of all ages and sizes can use this paddle and still be able to function better than the regular normal stiff paddle.

 

The Gullwing Paddle blades are made of fiberglass reinforced nylon and its handle is made of a light weight durable aluminum alloy, T-832 ALUMINUM. This aluminum is hard coated which gives it a tough abrasive-resistant surface, improving wearability and greatly improves corrosion resistance. This light weight design helps reduce the amount of energy needed to hold and maneuver the paddle, allowing for the same amount of power with less energy.  This light weight paddle, totaling 35oz, also makes it easier for smoother strokes allowing for stronger thrusts with less effort.

With the Gullwing’s new double curve design rowers do not have to extend their arms as much as with the regular heavier straight paddle. The blades are able to be placed in the water at a full horizontal position allowing for less body movement. This enables the rower to smoothly float across the surface with an efficient stroke, instead of digging into the water causing unnecessary stress on the joints.
