New Book: AUTHOR OFFERS REALISTIC STRATEGY IN FACING THE GLOBAL CHALLENGES OF THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY DISTURBING TIMES: THE STATE OF THE PLANET AND ITS POSSIBLE FUTURE
By Scott. T. Firsing
From the back cover: At the beginning of the twenty-first century we find ourselves spending the majority of our time stressing over issues such as money and the material possessions it can buy. Due to this reality, many people fail to see the bigger picture. We as a global civilization are at a crucial moment in our short history. Both the planet and its inhabitants are experiencing a plethora of problems that if not dealt with, can bring about horrific consequences that includes further extinction of various species including our own.
What is the state of our planet now? Are we moving forward? Is global governance the answer? This book is a clear, easy to read and understand overview of the many global challenges we face. These include environmental disasters, war torn societies and deadly diseases. The author presents the contents in a unique way, eliminating all political jargon in order to inform people of all ages and cultures on current events happening around the globe. A retired U.S. diplomat stated, “His book should be read by every individual on this planet.” Mostly, the younger generation will find this book insightful and of value to all searching for a way to actively participate in healing and preserving our planet and our species to create a brighter future for decades to come. The author systematically addresses the above issues in three parts: the planet’s current state, contributions to address global challenges, and a possible strategy to the world's environmental, political and health crisis. The various chapters in Part One deals with The World Today, The World Population, The Global Environment, Basic Human Rights and International Security. In Part Two “Moving Forward” discusses both Individual Contributions and Contributions by International Organizations. Part Three offers a Global Governance Strategy by describing its history and future and proposing clear steps on how to get there. The author concludes this lifeline to our planet and species with a real scenario of what the future may hold in 2050.
