FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New Autobiography Sheds Light on Priest’s Co-dependency with the Church
Truth Equals Justice by William L. Forst is a personal account about a Catholic priest who learns to make sense of his constant need for approval from the church ST. LOUIS, MO -- Truth Equals Justice, a new book by Catholic priest William L. Forst, is an account of his journeys through priesthood and his struggles to gain acceptance from the church. According to Forst, the church does not care for priests that think for themselves. “We are bound to obedience,” he says, noting that he believes this keeps the church from to moving forward or reforming. As a former leader, Forst tells the story of how he picked up a co-dependence habit and gradually learned to shed its addiction. At the same time, Forst asserts that he is hopeful that the church will eventually change its present leadership style to be a servant-leader as advocated by Jesus.

A review by Dr. Cyrus Harbourt of Columbia, Mo., says that Forst’s “faith and resilience in continuing personal prayer and humble service in spite of grave doubts and emotional trauma shine through─a beacon for others to follow.” As documented in his manuscript, Forst credits his parents, Frank and Bertha, for his vocation to the priesthood by their love for each other and their quiet enthusiasm for justice and equality. The idea for Truth Equals Justice came to Forst during a spiritual retreat when he began to write down his life experiences and then later drew parallels with his life and the strong hold the church had over him.
Forst wrote Truth Equals Justice as a fresh approach to examining his experience as a Priest. Intending it to be an introspective read for anyone who loves the church despite its challenges, Forst wrote the text to be moving and enlightening.
