Unique New Charity Supports Returning War Hero’s
MayDayAmerica offers an affordable way for all Americans to participate in charity this “Holiday” season.
December 10, 2007 -- Upland, CA -- It’s May Day for America. “May-Day” is the internationally-understood emergency code word for distress—the call made when a person is in danger or requires immediate assistance. MayDayAmerica escalates the term “May-Day” and its definition of “immediate assistance” to a new level in 21st century America.
What is MayDayAmerica and how it began? MayDayAmerica is a new and unique American nonprofit organization allowing every member of American society, an affordable way to offer charitable support to their fellow American’s in need. Details can be found on our website at www.maydayamerica.org . Specifically, MayDayAmerica facilitates short–term support with right-now real-time funding and no red-tape. Funding is provided for many of the necessities not provided by insurance or the U.S. Govt. MayDayAmerica also provides funds for personal and family assistance to returning troops suffering with physical and mental injuries acquired while protecting the United States of America. MayDayAmerica also supports American victims of U.S. natural disasters, such as tornados, floods, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes etc. providing basic shelter and supplies to victims. MayDayAmerica responds without bureaucratic red tape.
How MayDayAmerica Began? MayDayAmerica was set in motion after an ABC News expose, in March 2007. That broadcast detailed journalist Bob Woodruff's injuries while on assignment in Iraq in 2006. Call it divine intervention if you will, but that news program changed the lives of five men and is now beginning to change the lives of unknown other Americans in need. Woodruff’s expose, outraged MayDayAmerica’s founder, Jake M. Jefferson, a U.S. Army Veteran himself, with the reported lack of U.S. Government support for our seriously injured American military personnel. Jefferson, with his entrepreneurial background decided to do something about it.
Jefferson’s Vision Was Simple. He requested the support of four of his closest friends, who agreed there was a need. The five immediately began creating one of the most unique charities in American history. MayDayAmerica enlists charitable support from all Americans. For less than the cost of a cup of coffee; children, teens, young adults, moms, dads, grandparents - everyone will enjoy the benefits of charitable giving by supporting MayDayAmerica and the worthy cause of its missions. Every American can help in this effort with a donation of $52.00 – a mere one dollar a week (all donations – large or small will be gratefully accepted).
MayDayAmerica provides returning troops with disabling injuries, funding for items needed to make their lives as comfortable as possible. MayDayAmerica will provide funding for items such as access to vehicles with adaptive driving controls (including rental of adaptive vehicles available nationwide), wheelchairs, installation of vehicle hand controls, appropriate wheelchair lift equipment, home modifications such as wheelchair ramps, widening doorways for wheelchair access, bathroom facility retrofit and other changes consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
MayDayAmerica follows a specific and documented business strategy regarding the percentage of return to charity on donations accepted. MayDayAmerica adheres to established corporate By-laws that meet or exceed all IRS charity organization criteria.
