Naples, Fort Myers, FL -- May 6, 2008 -- Dr. Andrew Jaffe, renowned dermatologist, is most commonly known throughout Southwest Florida as the talented skin cancer surgeon fellowship trained and specializing in the MOHS Micrographic technique. What fewer individuals know about this busy, dedicated physician is his talent and passion in the music industry as an up and coming musician. Lead singer for the band, Phoenix Block, whose album, Chemtrail, was released this month, Dr Jaffe wanted to find a way to combine his talent and passion for music with his desire to increase awareness of the dangers of skin cancer.
Andrew Jaffe MD, determined to make a difference, produced a video to his bands’ hit single, “My One”, linking it to skin cancer awareness. Running just over 4 minutes long, “My One” is a song about the loss of a companion which runs over clips and statistics about skin cancer in this heartfelt dedication to those who have lost a loved one to melanoma while also drawing attention to the shocking but factual statistics. “Many people underestimate the danger and severity of skin cancer” Jaffe continues, “My goal with this video was to draw attention and raise awareness to the statistics”. May is skin cancer awareness month. “By raising awareness, we are saving lives,” Jaffe adds, “The five year survival rate for those whose melanoma is detected and treated before it spreads to the lymph nodes is 99 percent.”
To take it a step further, Jaffe’s band will be dedicating a portion of album sales to proceeds for the skin cancer foundation for the entire month of May.
