MotoTron Receives Order from Azure Dynamics for Hybrid Electric Vehicle Controllers

Model-based development using MotoHawk® speeds time to market.

Oshkosh, Wisconsin. April 21, 2008 -- MotoTron Corporation, a leading mechatronic systems supplier, announced today that it is providing electronic control units to Azure Dynamics Corporation (“Azure”) (TSX: AZD & LSE: ADC) a leading developer of hybrid electric and electric powertrains for commercial fleet vehicles.

Azure will use MotoTron’s programmed controllers on its hybrid electric powertrains for both its commercial vehicle and shuttle bus product offerings.  Azure has initiated discussions with MotoTron for multi-year supply of the controller to support future product demand.

MotoTron's MotoHawk is a model-based development tool chain that provides the ability to quickly develop, test and validate MathWorks control models onto production electronic control unit (ECU) hardware on to Azure’s controller unit, which uses the Freescale MPC5554 microprocessor.

Azure evaluated several technologies before settling on MotoTron’s controller. Azure’s CTO, Ron Iacobelli, said “We found the MotoTron product to be an ideal solution for our parallel hybrid electric vehicle application.  We look forward to continuing our business relationship with MotoTron.”
