Krefeld -- June 9, 2008 -- Using a mobile phone from anywhere within the European Union to transfer money to Africa is now a reality. Crandy’s “Call & Pay” system has been inaugurated in Douala - Cameroon. It is implemented in partnership with Mobile Money Cameroon S.A, the service provider in Cameroon and UBC the depository bank. Short term projections see the system rolled-out in eight other countries in the region.
This banking service gives the possibility to all mobile telephone users to carry out money transfers without any prior registration. The transfer can be carried out from either a rechargeable card or a bank account. The person transferring the money does so through a call while the receiver informed by an SMS can simply go to the nearest UBC of FIFFA branch to cash his or her due.
The “Call & Pay” system is linked to Crandy’s telephone service which enables low price international mobile phone calls which is directly debited from Crandy’s account.
This flexible and highly secured system will be deployed, in the coming weeks, at a local level throughout the countries concerned so as to give as many subscribers as possible, the possibility of using Crandy as a mobile banking service and also as a means of making local payments.
In order to broaden its transfer possibilities, Crandy’s “cash in” system has already set up its technical platform so as to enable the banking world use its P2P technology for its Europe-based African customers.
