MEDICAL ASSISTANTS NATIONWIDE GATHER IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY

CHICAGO -- July 19, 2007 -- More than 600 medical assistants and Certified Medical Assistants are scheduled to attend the 51st Annual Convention of the American Association of Medical Assistants held this September 7–11 in Louisville, Ky., at the Marriott Louisville Downtown. Attendees can choose from over 30 sessions on administrative and clinical topics, including electronic medical records, coding updates, congestive heart failure, and innovations in breast cancer treatment.

Medical assistants may pre-register before August 1, 2007 by calling 800/228-2262 or visiting the AAMA website at www.aama-ntl.org. They may also register at the door.

The mission of the American Association of Medical Assistants is to enable medical assisting professionals to enhance and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professionalism required by employers and patients; protect medical assistants’ right to practice; and promote effective, efficient health care delivery through optimal use of multiskilled Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs).

The Certified Medical Assistant credential is awarded to candidates who pass the AAMA CMA Certification/Recertification Examination. The National Board of Medical Examiners serves as test consultant for the exam. The CMA credential must be recertifed every five years by the continuing education or reexamination method in order to use the CMA credential in connection with employment.
