MEDIA RELATIONS / STORY PITCHING SERVICE
We can handle up to two more customers for our Media Relations / Story Pitching Service.
The services that we provide include the following:
1. Creative work on press releases and pitch letters.
An effective press release or pitch letter can take months to perfect. Using our experience, creativity and feedback from the media we refine your messages to attract the most attention. I cannot emphasize enough how important the creative process is. There is a lot of competition for publicity. Only the most interesting story ideas get noticed.
2. Plan strategy for getting publicity.
What is interesting about your company or organization? How are you different? What is going on that the media will be interested in? The answer is not always obvious. Also, some news can be broken into multiple releases in order to keep the press interested.
3. Contact journalists and editors and suggest story ideas.
Contacting journalists with a pitch is much more effective than sending out press releases. We once sent a press release for a customer and received only 5 responses. We sent a pitch letter about the same news a few days later. The pitch letter received almost 100 responses from various journalists and editors. Next, we got on the phone and called the most important journalists to get an even larger response.
4. Send press releases on a regular basis (both online and off line distribution).
It is important to send press releases on a regular basis. Although story pitching is more effective, press releases cannot be overlooked.
5. Act as a media contact and intermediary.
In most cases it is more effective for us to act as the intermediary between the press and you. We will provide the media with press releases to answer their questions and facilitate an interview with your spokesman. We will also follow up with the journalist to see if they are writing a story and make sure they have all of the information that they need.
6. Miscellaneous work related to publicity and media relations.
In addition, we have also been very successful at:
• Inviting media to events and press conferences
• Arranging product reviews
• Handling damage control and negative press
Unlike other PR companies, all expenses are included in our package. Since we are a distribution service, we do not need to pass on expenses for distributing press releases or sending press releases.
