Low Country Luxe Candles Raises Funds for African American Historical Center

50% Proceeds of Gullah Candles Sales go to Penn Center Weekend of November

(Savannah, GA) – Low Country Luxe (www.Lowcountryluxe.com ) candles, a Savannah, Georgia-based small business, has announced a fundraising campaign for the Penn Center , an African-American historical center located in St. Helena Island, South Carolina.  50% Proceeds of Gullah Candle Sales go to Penn Center Heritage Weekend November 10, 11, 12.

Gullah is an African-American heritage and language spoken on the sea islands of the Low Country.  Descendents from slaves of the West African coast, they have lived on the islands for generations, and their unique culture remains largely intact.

The Gullah candle offered by Low Country Luxe is a sweet floral creation featuring a potent and intense floral heart of Southern magnolia, gardenia, American Holly, clean musks, exotic resin and a warm background of sweet vanilla and oak wood.

Tucked in the heart of the South Carolina Sea Islands between glimmering marshes and deep water, nestled beneath the silvery moss draped limbs of massive live oaks, you will find the Penn Center - the site of one of the country's first schools for freed slaves and one of the most significant African American historical and cultural institutions in existence today.

Walter Mack, the Director of the Penn Center said,  “The Penn Center is proud to be an inspiration for the Low Country Luxe Gullah candle.  We appreciate the generosity of Low Country Luxe and its founder Greg and Natalie Evans for donating a portion of the proceeds for the sales to support preservation of the Gullah history and culture at the Penn Center.”

Low Country Luxe is a Georgia-based small business whose candles have been selected by Paula Deen as a best gift selection for the upcoming Christmas season.
