A local homecare company celebrates its 20th anniversary by giving away $200.00 a month to charitable organizations in metro Denver that serve the elderly population.
Elderlink Companion Care, Inc., the first company in the metro-area created specifically to provide non-medical homecare to the elderly, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2008. Elderlink will mark this milestone by giving away $200 a month to any charitable organization that serves the elderly population of metro-Denver.
Long-term care is typically paid for out-of-pocket or through a long term care insurance policy. The government does not pay for long term care except for those on Medicaid. Costs for non-medical home care in the Denver area average approximately $21.00 an hour, which puts these services out of range for many people. There are numerous non-profit or charitable organizations that aim to assist seniors with lower incomes but who do not qualify for Medicaid.
“We are grateful for the amount of lives we have been able to touch and want to take this opportunity to give back to the community”, said Elderlink owner, Karen Moorehead. Elderlink, which offers services such as assistance, with personal care, transportation, medication reminders, housekeeping and meal preparation opened their doors in 1988 and has continued to grow in size and reputaion. Charitable organizations in metro-Denver should call Elderlink’s office once a month, 303-734-0641, to be entered in the $200.00 monthly drawing.
