McCormick believes the foundation momentum is at a critical stage with the national presence of NSFA able to help students in school districts in ways never seen before. The NSFA’s goal is to promote the organization, development, and success of school (K-12) foundations and their partnering schools and school districts according to its executive director, Len Cockman. “Our research and learning opportunities are combining to help communities’ members meet the growing unmet needs of America’s students,” Cockman said. Through a partnership with the National School Boards Association (NSBA), the NSFA conference precedes NSBA’s 67th National Conference in California. NSBA president and past foundation board member, Jane Gallucci, will be a highlighted speaker at the NSFA Conference. “From Florida to California and Minnesota to Texas, the growth and success of K-12 foundations brings millions of dollars to enrichment programs for kids from classroom project grants to summer learning opportunities,” said Jim Collogan, NSFA project director. “We are just beginning to see the giving models colleges and universities have successfully used for years being replicated in America’s K-12 schools. People care deeply about the students in their community, and foundations are giving them an avenue to add additional value to K-12 education.” Collogan said. NSFA Conference information is available at http://www.schoolfoundations.org. |
