(MMD Newswire) August 28, 2009 -- The first annual Jim McKay Scholarship was announced today in cooperation with the Babe Ruth Museum, The Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts, and ABC 2.
The scholarship was established to help people interested in working in the radio and television broadcast industry and to honor Baltimore's own Jim Mckay. Mr McKays contributions to both local and national broadcasting are legendary. The winner was selected by a panel of industry professionals as well as Mr McKay's daughter Mary Guba.
The winner was Mr Glenn Dye from Stevensville MD. "Glenn's personality and eagerness to learn impressed all of us" stated Sheffield president Richard Van Horn. "I know that he will make us proud about who we chose to honor Mr McKay. Glenn was awarded a $13,000. scholarship to attend the Radio and Broadcasting course at the Sheffield Institute.
